Charity Digital (“us”, “we”) respect the privacy of every person who visits or subscribes to our websites and online publications (“you”) and are committed to ensuring a safe online-experience.

This privacy statement outlines the personal data we may collect about you and how we may process it, as well as how our service providers might do the same. This privacy statement also tells you about your rights to control this data.

 

Our privacy commitments

Charity Digital will not use any personal data collected on this site for any purpose other than that specifically stated. Charity Digital will not use personal contact details unless you agree to the data protection opt in supplied. If you agree to receive, or sign up for, further information from Charity Digital you will be offered an opportunity to unsubscribe from that communication at all points of contact.

We subscribe fully to the GDPR (2018) and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulation (2003). Charity Digital will never intentionally misuse or allow others to misuse any personal data it collects or holds.

Charity Digital does not sell or pass on personal contact details to any organisation and will not do so in future without asking you for a specific opt-in to that scheme.

 

About us

Charity Digital (Charity Number: 1133179; Company No. 06902258) is a charity that was established in 2001 to help other charities with IT. As well as operating this site, we also operate an IT donation programme (charitydigitalexchange.org) and Charity Digital News (charitydigitalnews.co.uk).

This site is the main website for our email marketing programme for charities – ‘Charity Digital Mail‘. We offer a signups to the programme, and a contact form for enquiries.

Responsibility for your data

Charity Digital is subject to the General Data Protection Regulation 2018 as enforced in the UK by the ICO.

We are the sole data controller for this site. We do use chosen processors to help us do this, including Google Analytics, Hotjar, WPengine, Salesforce and Dotdigital.

 

Collection of personal data

Our primary goal in collecting personal data from you is to give you an enjoyable customised experience whilst allowing us to provide services and features that most likely meet your needs.

We only collect personal data from you through data inputted through enquiry forms (if submitted), newsletter subscriptions (if joined) and anonymised site usage data. We do give you the option to access our sites’ homepages without subscribing or registering or disclosing your personal data.

Please note that we do not intend to collect any personal data from children under thirteen years of age and no child under thirteen should submit any personal data to any of the Sites. Should we discover that any such personal data has been delivered to any of the Sites, we will remove that information as soon as possible.

Enquiries

Charity Digital collects personal data such as your name, company and email address in order to reply to your query. This information may be used in conjunction with information we hold against any services that you have signed up for (such as but not limited to, those listed above) where it is appropriate to helpfully reply to your enquiry.

This information is used to administer and deliver to you the support you have requested, to operate our sites efficiently and improve our service to you, and to retain records of our business transactions and communications. By using this site and submitting personal information through the registration process you are agreeing that we may collect, hold, process and use your information (including personal information) for the purpose of providing you with the site services and developing our business.

Call recording

If you contact us via telephone, we will only use telephone recordings for training and statistics purposes internally to monitor our services. Our recording retention period is 365 days. If you would prefer not to be recorded, you can email us at office@charitydigital.org.uk.

Trading in personal data

We are committed to keeping the data you provide us secure and will take reasonable precautions to protect your personal data from loss, misuse or alteration.

The transmission of information via the internet is not completely secure. Although we will do our best to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee the security of your data transmitted to our Site; any transmission is at your own risk. Once we have received your information, we will use strict procedures and security features described above to try to prevent unauthorised access.

We have implemented information security policies, rules and technical measures to protect the personal data that we have under our control from:
